There are all kinds of materials out there for people to use in their bathroom floors. From solid hardwood flooring, all the way to ceramic, linoleum and porcelain, there are simply more than enough choices to go around. These options have a wide range of advantages and disadvantages, and over the years, homeowners have found tile to be by far the most common and convenient option available in the   building and construction marketplace. You will see plain white tiles in most bathrooms, and if you own a bathroom with a floor like that, you must wish a thousand times there is something else in the market to cater to your needs. The good news is that there are lots of trends in the market when it comes to bathroom tile, and some of the best are laid out below;

Contrast tiles

We are all used to a regular, consistent feel when it comes to tiles. However, there is a new wave shaking things up a bit in that area, with people now looking toward horizontal stripes of accent tiles. These accents are created by use of tiles that look like they have been created out of many small rectangles or squares that are set in contrasting colors. This sense of contrast creates a visual interest and give character to a room.  When horizontal bands don’t work, then accent areas and squares are the way to go.

Large tiles are a thing now

There was a time when small tiles used to be all the rage, but things are changing now. Your bathroom remodel project will mostly likely use the large tile variety, which measure in at about 12x12 inches, with bigger options also available. Big tiles have a sense of style to them; they provide an environment that looks less busy and less cluttered. With them, your bathroom has a calm feel to it and seems quite relaxed. Big tiles are also quite easy to install so won’t take up too much time to get done. There is also a shift in the geometry of tiles now, with rectangle stepping up to take the mantle from square.

Bright Contrasts, earth tones

As white tiles exit the stage, earth tones are quickly rising to the occasion. There is the option of off-white, which is very bright and mild, and then there is light brow and tan, which are quite the neutral presence in your bathroom. Stone colors add a natural feel to the status quo, as do greys. If you want to draw attention to something specific, then pull all the stops with vivid, bright auras.
