Not every home has a large kitchen with room for everything; sometimes you have to be a little creative to get the most out of your kitchen. A kitchen remodel is not the only way to create more space in your kitchen. You don’t have to worry about the costs involved if you are not in a position to undertake such a project. Here are some practical ideas that can help you create more space in your kitchen (the best thing about them is you can do them by yourself);

Have a cooking zone

In a small kitchen, every bit of organization frees up much needed space. One way to improve the functionality of your kitchen is to designate a cooking zone. Pots and pans should be stored in the cooking zone, which is typically the area around the stove.

Keep plastic containers together

These are some of the items that tend to take up space in the kitchen if not properly stored. Rather than have them sit around in different areas of the kitchen, put them in one drawer and keep the lids close by.

Use hooks and a chalkboard

Is your kitchen too small a space to be walking around with a book confirming ingredients and measurements? You don’t have to. A chalkboard and chalk maker is all you need. The chalkboard can also have some hooks to hold measuring cups. Using a chalk marker is better because then you don’t have to worry about brushing your clothes against the chalkboard accidentally.

Use sliding shelf organizers

There are a lot of items in the kitchen that are often needed for whatever you are preparing. The days when these utensils would clutter the kitchen are gone. Shelf organizers will help you keep these utensils close by so that you can reach them whenever you need them.

Magnetic spice holders will save you space

There are a lot of ways to find room for the accumulation of jars in the kitchen. They may not be needed for every meal prepared but they do play a role when it comes to flavoring food. Keeping jars of different spices suspended against the fridge door is another way to create more space. The jars can hold small amounts of your favorite spices and flavorings.

See through storage is a good idea

In a small kitchen, you can easily turn the space upside down when looking for something you can’t seem to find. See-through storage makes it easier to find things so that you don’t end up disarranging all the cabinets looking for one item. Such storage is good for items that are often used in the kitchen or for keeping snacks. It allows children to reach the snacks faster and leave the place as they found it.

Remodeling your kitchen is a lot of fun but it is not always the best option because there are way too many steps to take and considerations to ponder. These simple hacks can help you make better use of your kitchen at virtually no cost.
